Tower of London Poppies

We went into London today to see the poppy display at the Tower of London.  The amount of people was horrendous and there were crowds everywhere...at first we thought we wouldn't get a chance to see them as we don't 'Do Queueing'   but fortunately we were able to find a view point to see them in all their splendour.  It was rather sobering to think that these poppies represent all the lives lost during the First World War...this is just a fraction as they go all around the Tower.

  1. The poppies are wonderful - so poignant and such an inspired piece of art. We saw them at the end of October (during half term) on a gloriously sunny day, it was also very crowded but the crowd was calm and friendly. It looks like it was much colder today as you had to wear your hat.

    1. They certainly are. It was sunny when we left home, but by the time we got there the weather had changed and was overcast and drizzly, so glad I had my hat on! The crowd was calm and friendly, just too many! But a simply wonderful experience - so glad we got to see them after all.

  2. This weekend is ANZAC (Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) commemoration. We are all wearing red poppies in commemoration of those who served and died in battle. Angelo Sasha

    1. So do they start remembering it earlier now? ANZAC Day itself is on 25th April isn't it?

      Must always remember!
