Postcards from Around the World

Okay so this isn't a post about one of my holidays, but it is a post about other people's holidays and my postcard collection.  As some of you may remember I collect postcards, to keep and to send to my friends.  Luckily some of my friends send postcards back to me and that is always exciting.  The other week I opened my fabulous parcel from my friends at Gregoropolis in the USA.  You about it on our other blog here:  Wonderful Gift Box.  Today I finally got round to putting the postcards I received in that parcel into my postcard album, along with a fabulous card I got from my friend Maisy in Ireland yesterday.  Apparently she has lived there for two years now! That was a real surprise. Please, please Maisy, can you message me and send me your address so I can write back to you.  Thank you :)

Anyway look at these great postcards:

This one is from Minnesota's largest candy store.  It must have been fun visiting there.

Next is a great postcard from Cincinnati Zoo.

Gosh wish I could have gone there.

Pete Dakota sent me this card, he knows how much I like animals.  Sounds like it was a really fun day.  Wish I could have gone with them!

Cincinnati, hey I have been there.  I went there for my first USA Sasha Festival.  It was such amazing fun.  I was so sorry I had to miss out on going again this year.  But how wonderful that my friends thought of me and sent these great cards.

This one is from BR.

I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself at the Festival and had such a good time.  It was such fun that you also got me a Cincinnati Reds baseball helmet. I will think of you and Pete when wearing it!

This postcard came through the letterbox yesterday so was a real surprise.  Who do we know in Ireland?

It is from our friend Maisy.  Wow it says she now lives there.  It asks how many postcards I have from Ireland?  This is the first!  Thank you Maisy it was such fun to receive this.

Please let me know your address so I can write to you.

I've put my postcards in my album.  I love looking through it.  Such great memories and also ideas of places I'd like to visit someday from those cards sent by my dear friends.

Thank you Pete Dakota, BR from Gregoropolis and from Maisy in Ireland!

The British Museum with friends.

Following on from the blog post written over here.

On 2nd October we visited the British Museum.

My partners in crime were, Diane, Dawn, 'Mum' (Lorraine) Brenda and Rosie.

It was a lovely morning and I can't wait to get inside to explore, but first I had to do the obligatory poses outside!

Waving hello to all!

These steps are big....

...and rather daunting for a wee fellow.

But climb them I will....

...one step at a time.

Uh oh...I have been discovered....

....I get picked up, but fortunately Chris the security guard is a really friendly person.

Once he checked me out, (and took my blog and Facebook details!)  he said it was okay to go in and to enjoy ourselves.

I love this museum, there is so much history in here! This is a Granodiorite statue of  Amenhotep III, (1390 - 1350 BC) one of the greatest Pharaohs in the long history of Egypt.

The foot is nearly as big as me!

Saying hello to the Lion of Amenhotep III which was later restored and reinscribed for Tutankhamun.

Loving the amazing carvings in this stone work.

If you look carefully you can see a horse and soldiers.

Soon it was time to end our visit as people had to start making their way home..

We stop for a photo outside...

Not sure why our arms are up, but hey it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Great company, great friends, a good time and plenty of laughs.

Thank you for a fun couple of days!

Helen's Visit: Meeting with friends at The Gardens of the Rose

Oh look who is over there, it looks like Flora.  I say to Helen.

Hi Flora, this is Helen, she has come to stay with me for a couple of weeks, and then she will be coming to stay with you.  She has come all the way from the USA.  I tell Flora as I introduce her to Helen.

Hi there Helen & Flora.  Stevie says as she approaches.

This is a great place to meet up isn't it?  We chat together wondering what has happened to Amber and her friend who is visiting from The Netherlands.

They soon join us and we chat away while our Mum's look round the beautiful gardens.

Flora, I think you need to relax a bit... we tell her.

I can't, she says.  I am bracing myself as it is quite windy and I am worried about falling over and hurting myself.

We wander off to see what else we can see.

Here I am with Amber's beautiful friend.

Hmm...did she choose this specific place to stop on purpose...'Spice of Life'   I wonder.

Stevie and Flora have found Linnet who has been enjoying the beautifully scented pink roses.

The ground looks so pretty with the lovely rose petals on it.  They stand and chat as only girls can do.

Photos of course were taken while they were deep in conversation.

Linnet is a beautiful side-part (whatever that is supposed to mean, but that is what I heard the grown-ups calling her - she just looks like a girl to me!)

Flora (again I over heard the grown ups calling her a fringe girl)

My sister Stevie.

Helen has discovered a gorgeous rose

Oh smell this.  She calls out.  It is lovely!

Oh it is so pretty as well...Helen is entranced by the rose.

What a lovely colour it is.

Redheads in the yellow

Not sure what they are doing in there, but I think they probably are enjoying themselves.

The conversation gets animated.

I think it must be a red head thing...they seem to be able to 'talk for England' even if they are not from here!

Oh look they are at it again...I think Amber has found a very dear friend indeed....she said she always felt a bit 'out of it' with the rest of us, being so different.  Even though I have told her she is beautiful.

I think she looks rather shy here.

(Amber's beautiful friend belongs to the lovely Fanny who we spent a wonderful day with)

Stevie admires the lilac flowers - she does love the colour!

I think Mum got a bit carried away at taking photos of the girls!

We have fun on the maze.

Round and round we go

Linnet decides to have a photo session, 'just like the models do' or at least that is what she said.

Amber has her turn with the purple flowers, which accentuate how beautiful she is.  But shh...don't tell anyone I said that or they will start teasing me!

Some rose, because that is what you do when you go to the rose gardens...you take photos!

Flora & Linnet caught unaware...

We saw a Red Kite in the air, what a sight!

Fanny with Helen and her lovely girl.

Caught on film by Dad...

Chatting...

Yes, they did a lot of that!
