Isle of Wight Holiday - Day One

On Sunday 9th October we set off early in the morning for our drive down to Southampton to board the Ferry to the Isle of Wight.  It was a perfect sunny day and a very promising start to our week away and we were all very excited.  Fortunately we arrived at the Ferry an hour early as it turned out that our actual Ferry was cancelled, so we were able to get the earlier one.

Just look at the wonderful blue sky!

We boarded the Ferry very promptly as we just got there in time.

I couldn't wait to get up on deck.

We have already started our journey.

I sit and watch as we leave Southampton and make our way across to the Isle of Wight.

Fabulous sea views.

The bridge - where it all happens.

Almost there...

Wow, the trip seemed to go really quickly - we are at the IOW already!

Lots of masts from sailing boats.

Next a few photos of the differing views from each side of the Ferry.

Coming in to the harbour at East Cowes.

I am soooo excited!  This is my first time to the Isle of Wight and my Mum hasn't been since she was 2 and 4 years old!

Our bedroom.

The view from our bedroom - isn't that spectacular, so peace and quiet.

There were calves grazing in the field at the end of the garden!

We venture into Ventnor for a lovely Sunday Roast lunch.  It was very yummy.

After lunch we enjoyed a walk along the beach front.

What a view!

A very promising start to our holiday indeed.

  1. What lovely weather for your crossing, much better than our crossing to Guernsey in August. I went to the IoW when I was 16, it is beautiful.

    1. Wonderful weather wasn't it? I can't believe how lucky we were with the weather. First sunny holiday we have had in the UK since 2001!
